The Journey

Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Naivasha – Boat Ride and Crescent Island

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from a Nairobi hotel or JKIA. You’ll drive through the scenic Great Rift Valley for about 2.5-3 hours, arriving at Lake Naivasha mid-morning. After a short break, enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the lake, offering close-up views of hippos and birdlife, followed by a guided walking safari at Crescent Island among giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and antelopes. You check in to your lodge in the afternoon for Lunch. The afternoon is at leisure, soaking in the calm Rift Valley atmosphere. Dinner and overnight in Naivasha.

Day 2: Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru National Park – Afternoon Game Drive

After breakfast, depart Naivasha at around 8:00 am and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park for about 2-2.5 hours, arriving by mid-morning. You’ll proceed into the park for a game drive, exploring the lake and surrounding woodlands. Nakuru is famous for flamingos, white and black rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, and a variety of predators. Lunch is taken at the lodge, followed by continued game viewing in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay will be in Nakuru.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara – Scenic Drive

After an early breakfast, depart Nakuru at around 7:00 am for Masai Mara National Reserve. The journey takes you through rural landscapes and the Great Rift Valley escarpments about 5 to 6 hours, arriving in the Mara around noon. After lunch and check-in at your camp or lodge, head out for an afternoon game drive, your first encounter with the vast plains of the Masai Mara, home to lions, elephants, cheetahs, and large herds of plains game. Return to the camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Masai Mara – Full Day Game Drive (Maasai Village Optional)

Today is dedicated to exploring the Masai Mara. On this day you can choose to go on a full-day game drive in the Mara or morning and afternoon game drives. Between the game drive, there is the optional visit to a local Masai village (payments to be made directly) which can be conducted. The trees in the distance might turn out to be a family of giraffes. Those clumps of bushes could be a pride of lions and the rock that moves could be a rhino lumbering out of your way. You could also encounter a herd of elephants crossing the path in front of you. Large animals are not the only entertainment – a family of warthogs may amuse you, running as fast as their little legs will carry them until they forget why they are rushing and stop to regroup. You will have dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge/camp.

Day 5: Masai Mara to Nairobi

After breakfast, you check out and begin the drive back to Nairobi at around 7:30 am. You’ll arrive in Nairobi in the early to mid-afternoon, marking the end of your safari.
