The Journey
DAY 1 — NAIROBI → NAIVASHA
Overnight: Naivasha | 1 Night
Depart Nairobi in the morning and journey towards Lake Naivasha, travelling through the dramatic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley. The drive offers beautiful views of the escarpment and surrounding countryside as you descend into the Rift Valley. Arrive in Naivasha and check in to your lodge before enjoying lunch.
In the afternoon, head out for a relaxing boat ride on Lake Naivasha, cruising across the freshwater lake towards Crescent Island. Here, step ashore for a guided walking safari through the sanctuary, were wildlife roams freely. Expect encounters with giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, gazelle and a variety of bird species, making this a wonderful introduction to Kenya’s wildlife without the confines of a safari vehicle.

DAY 2 — NAIVASHA → MAASAI MARA
Overnight: Maasai Mara | 1st Night
After breakfast, depart Naivasha and continue towards the Maasai Mara, travelling through Kenya’s scenic countryside and rural communities before entering the Mara ecosystem. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and some time to settle in and enjoy the surroundings. In the afternoon, venture into the reserve for your first Maasai Mara game drive. Explore the open grasslands in search of the area’s resident wildlife, including elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and the Mara’s renowned big cats.
As the afternoon progresses, the golden light across the plains creates excellent conditions for wildlife viewing and photography.
Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation.

DAY 3 — FULL-DAY MAASAI MARA SAFARI
Overnight: Maasai Mara | 2nd Night
Rise early and set out for a full-day safari across the Maasai Mara, carrying a picnic lunch so that more time can be spent exploring the reserve rather than returning to the lodge midday.
The morning offers some of the best opportunities to encounter predators while they are active, with possibilities including lion, cheetah and leopard, alongside elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and numerous other species.
Continue deeper into the reserve, exploring different habitats and following wildlife activity throughout the day. Depending on the season, the Mara may also offer spectacular views of the Great Migration, with enormous herds of wildebeest and zebra moving through the ecosystem.
Enjoy your picnic lunch in a designated setting before continuing the safari into the afternoon.
Return to your lodge in the late afternoon or early evening for dinner and your final night in the Mara.

DAY 4 — MAASAI MARA → ISEBANIA → SERENGETI
Overnight: Serengeti | 1st Night
After breakfast, bid farewell to the Maasai Mara and begin your journey towards the Isebania border, travelling south through the Kenyan countryside.
At Isebania, complete the necessary immigration and border formalities before crossing into Tanzania.
Here, the Kenyan safari vehicle and driver hand over to the Tanzanian safari team, ensuring that the journey continues smoothly while each team operates within its respective country.
Continue towards the Serengeti National Park, watching the landscape gradually transform as you enter one of Africa’s greatest wildlife ecosystems.
Arrive at your accommodation, check in and enjoy lunch before taking some time to relax. Later in the afternoon, head out for your first Serengeti game drive, beginning your exploration of the vast plains and looking out for the wildlife that makes this ecosystem

DAY 5 — FULL-DAY SERENGETI SAFARI
Overnight: Serengeti | 2nd Night
Today is dedicated entirely to exploring the Serengeti National Park.
After an early breakfast, set out for a full-day safari with a picnic lunch. The expansive Serengeti allows you to explore different areas of the park and spend time observing wildlife in its natural environment.
Search the plains for large herds of wildebeest and zebra, as well as elephant, buffalo, giraffe and hippo. The Serengeti is also renowned for its predators, offering opportunities to encounter lion, cheetah and leopard.
Depending on the time of year and the location of the herds, your safari may also bring you close to sections of the Great Migration, one of the most remarkable wildlife spectacles in the world.
Continue exploring through the afternoon before returning to camp for dinner and your final night in the Serengeti.

DAY 6 — SERENGETI → NGORONGORO
Overnight: Ngorongoro | 1st Night
Enjoy breakfast before departing the Serengeti and travelling towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The journey offers another opportunity to appreciate Tanzania’s changing landscapes as the endless Serengeti plains gradually give way to the lush volcanic highlands surrounding Ngorongoro.
Arrive at your lodge and enjoy lunch before settling in.
The remainder of the afternoon is dedicated to leisure. Take time to enjoy the lodge, the surrounding highland scenery and the cooler atmosphere of the crater region ahead of tomorrow’s major safari experience.

DAY 7 — FULL-DAY NGORONGORO CRATER SAFARI
Overnight: Ngorongoro | 2nd Night
After an early breakfast, descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day crater safari.
The crater floor contains a remarkable variety of habitats, from open grasslands and wetlands to woodland areas and the crater’s lakes. This concentration of wildlife provides excellent opportunities to encounter lion, elephant, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, hippo and numerous bird species.
With luck, you may also have the opportunity to spot the endangered black rhinoceros within the crater.
Enjoy a picnic lunch during the safari before continuing your exploration through the afternoon.
Later, ascend the crater walls and return to your lodge for dinner and a relaxing final evening in the Ngorongoro Highlands.

DAY 8 — NGORONGORO → ARUSHA
Overnight: Arusha | 1 Night
After breakfast, depart Ngorongoro and make your way towards Arusha, travelling through the fertile highlands and agricultural communities of northern Tanzania. The journey provides a pleasant change of scenery after several days immersed in the wilderness, with local villages, farms and the slopes of Mount Meru forming part of the landscape.
Arrive in Arusha and check in to your hotel before enjoying lunch.
The afternoon is intentionally left at leisure, providing an opportunity to relax, enjoy the hotel’s facilities or, depending on preference, take an optional Arusha experience such as a city tour, coffee experience or cultural visit.
Enjoy dinner and a comfortable overnight stay in Arusha before continuing the journey back into Kenya.

DAY 9 — ARUSHA → AMBOSELI
Overnight: Amboseli | 1st Night
After breakfast, depart Arusha and begin the journey towards the Kenya–Tanzania border, continuing northwards into Kenya.
Complete the border formalities before proceeding towards Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya’s most visually spectacular safari destinations.
Arrive in Amboseli in time for lunch and check in at your lodge.
In the afternoon, head into the park for your first Amboseli game drive. Explore the open plains and seasonal wetlands while searching for the park’s famous elephant herds, along with lion, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and a variety of birdlife.
Weather permitting, the magnificent Mount Kilimanjaro rises above the landscape, creating one of Africa’s most iconic safari backdrops.
Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation.

DAY 10 — FULL-DAY AMBOSELI SAFARI
Overnight: Amboseli | 2nd Night
Wake early for a full-day safari in Amboseli, beginning when the wildlife is most active and the morning light is at its best.
Explore the park’s diverse habitats, including the open plains and wetlands that attract large numbers of wildlife. Amboseli is particularly famous for its impressive elephant population, many of which can be seen moving across the plains with Mount Kilimanjaro providing a spectacular backdrop.
Continue exploring throughout the morning, looking for lion, cheetah, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and the park’s rich birdlife.
Enjoy a picnic lunch during the day’s safari before continuing into the afternoon, allowing plenty of time to explore and photograph the landscape and wildlife. Return to the lodge in the evening for your final dinner and overnight stay on The Sovereign Wilderness Trail.

DAY 11 — AMBOSELI → NAIROBI
Departure Day
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the lodge and take in your final views of the Amboseli landscape.
Depart the park and begin your journey back to Nairobi, travelling through the changing landscapes of southern Kenya.
Arrive in Nairobi later in the day, bringing your 11-day Kenya and Tanzania wilderness journey to a close.
