The Journey
Day 1: Nairobi – Lake Naivasha – Lake Elementaita
Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from Nairobi at around 7:00 am, followed by a scenic drive through the Great Rift Valley. You’ll make a brief stop at a viewpoint to enjoy the dramatic escarpment views before continuing to Lake Naivasha, arriving mid-morning. On arrival, you’ll enjoy a relaxing boat ride on Lake Naivasha, gliding past hippos and a wide variety of birdlife. This is followed by a guided walk at Crescent Island, where you’ll walk freely among giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and antelopes in a peaceful, predator-free environment. After the experience, you’ll proceed to a lakeside restaurant for lunch, then continue the short drive to Lake Elementaita, arriving in the afternoon. The rest of the day is spent at leisure, enjoying the serene lake views and birdlife around the lodge. Dinner and overnight at your lodge in Lake Elementaita.
Day 2: Lake Elementaita – Masai Mara National Reserve
After an early breakfast, you’ll depart at around 7:30 am for the Masai Mara, driving through the rolling landscapes of the Rift Valley and Maasai land. You’ll arrive in the Masai Mara in time for lunch at your safari camp or lodge.
In the afternoon, you head out for your first game drive in the Masai Mara. This introductory drive gives you a taste of the reserve’s vast plains and abundant wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and a strong chance of spotting predators such as lions and cheetahs as they prepare for the evening hunt. As the sun sets over the savannah, you’ll return to your camp to relax and unwind. Dinner and overnight in the Masai Mara.
Day 3: Masai Mara National Reserve Game Drive
This day is dedicated entirely to wildlife exploration in the Masai Mara. After an early breakfast, you may opt for a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch, allowing you to venture deeper into the reserve, including the Mara River area, where wildlife concentrations are often high.
Alternatively, you can choose a relaxed schedule with a morning game drive, returning to camp for lunch and rest, followed by another afternoon game drive when animals are most active. Throughout the day, you’ll track the Big Five and enjoy the rich diversity of wildlife and birdlife that makes the Masai Mara world-famous.
A Maasai village visit can be arranged in the late afternoon or on return from your game drive for guests interested in learning about the local culture and traditions. This visit is optional and offered at an extra cost.
Day 4: Masai Mara – Nairobi
After an early breakfast, you’ll check out and begin your return journey to Nairobi, enjoying the final views of the Mara plains. You’ll arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon, marking the end of your safari adventure.
